Cars in Germany's Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were notified by a man who noticed a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Police say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials state preliminary tests show the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.

An important representative stated the incident made him speechless and needed to be resolved quickly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
